Yesterday afternoon right before I was about to put on my jacket and head out of my office and towards home, one of my interns came into my office and said they needed a huge favor. I never like the sound of things when someone asks me for a huge favor, but I paused long enough to listen to what she had to say. My younger brother is just about to kiss his youth goodbye and say hello to legal beers. I’m really bummed I won’t be able to make it up to where he lives to take him out for his 21^st but did do him a little bit of justice by sending a card with cash to take to a couple of different breweries I’ve suggested. He isn’t much of a drinker, not at all actually but he does appreciate a well brewed IPA or lager. Living near a few small breweries, I hope he takes the cash along with a few friends to celebrate his transition into being a grown man. People think you are an adult after turning 18. In the eyes of the law, this is true but I was so immature at 18. Man I learned quick where that will get you.

Turning 21 deserves party decorations and big old birthday themes. I may not get up there for his actual birth date but in the next few months I’m taking him out minus the party decorations or free desert many restaurants hand out for a birthday boy.

        As part of helping out my friends and family, I am usually assigned to the fun job of being the designated Birthday Theme organizer. I love to do this, because it helps me express my creativity, originality, spunk, and passion for helping out my friends. And it is really fun!

I absolutely love parties. I love everything about them, the planning, decorating, organizing the food and the invitations. I love it all. Sunday afternoon we are going to a benefit for an orchestra in the Phoenix area and I imagine the party decorations will be pretty impressive. It's called A Chocolate Sunday and the symphonic group who puts it together gets vendors to volunteer the party decorations and the chocolate treats. I imagine they will have the place where it's being held all decked out like they did last year. They held raffles every 30 minutes last year, and I won my table's beautiful floral arrangement. We also got to sample so many different types of chocolates and other candies. I made sure we all ate a high protein supper to offset the sugar rush we had all afternoon long.

The musicians from the orchestra play in trios, quartets, or solos and the music is not symphonic. The quality of the performances are very high because they are all members of the orchestra. We're really looking forward to A Chocolate Sunday since my sister is one of the musicians who will be playing. I can't wait to see what the party decorations will be this year, and it's my every hope that I win something again this year, too.

Right after the NBA All-Star break, the only thing on my mind was the future of Amare Stoudemire of the Phoenix Suns. There had been a couple weeks of trade rumors and talks with the Cavs along with Miami Heat. Amare was the reason I started watching the Suns, which later led to a new favorite squad. This was like 5 years ago. Amare is from Phoenix, has only played for Phoenix and would not look right in any other uniform. When the news came down the pipe that he would be staying on the Suns out came the party decorations. Living in LA, only two of my friends also love the Suns. I headed over to their place to set the party decorations up.

It was a great opportunity to have a fun Friday night, talk basketball and wipe the sweat from our brows during the trade talk. I usually am not one that goes all out and makes a big commotion about my birthday or my birthday theme. Now that I have all the preparations done for my son’s upcoming birthday party, I can sit back and relax. For a while now, I've been attempting to come up with a birthday theme for a 12 year old boy. My sister Alex technically is a year older on the 8^th of February each year. However she told me that since so many people will be getting married in our family this year, and there are so many couples now, that next year her birthday idea is to actually have a birthday party a week later, on Valentine’s Day—a birthday idea where we all go out to eat together, and then do a party for her back over at her house. I thought this was the most unusual birthday idea that I had ever heard before I gave this birthday idea some serious thought. After thinking about it though, I arrived at the conclusion that it was a really great birthday idea because it would bring the whole family together, allowing couples to celebrate their love, while at the same time allowing us to party together with my sister afterwards at a lover’s party for all. I am planning on heading on down to Long Beach in California to see my younger brother Douglas over my birthday this year, and I can’t wait. I love my sister, but the fact that she waits until the last minute to do almost everything drives me absolutely crazy.
