birthday themes, party decorations My birthday is sandwiched between Christmas and New Year's. so my birthday themes generally involved something from the season so that the party decorations match the rest of the holiday decor in the house. This year we came up with the idea of using fresh strawberries on the birthday cake. They were perfect. It's been months since we bought strawberries because they are out of season and we like to eat what's grown locally and is in season. But birthday themes can be adapted to any season and our little splurge on fresh berries was worth it. They were sweet and delicious. The red and green was perfect on the white frosting. Next year we may use fresh raspberries and mint for the cake. Not shown in the photo is the chocolate fountain that we had going during the birthday party that was truly a hit. Choosing strawberries really worked well for the birthday themes this year and they were a healthy treat, too. We choose dark chocolate for the fountain and even though it cost more than milk chocolate, we decided that the combination would be an elegant touch for my birthday party decorations.
