birthday party favors, birthday party supplies

Now that I have all the preparations done for my son’s upcoming birthday party, I can sit back and relax. Yesterday I received the last of the Basketball Kit-N-Kaboodle  theme birthday party favors that I ordered from Shop On Mine whose online store can be found by visiting www.shoponmine.com/. Since the party for my son is a surprise, I have been trying to keep all the birthday party supplies put away so that my son wouldn't see them and get suspicious. Yesterday, I almost didn't get the birthday party favors put away before he came rushing in.

I was talking to mom on the phone when the package containing the birthday party favors arrived, so I sat them on the counter and opened the box to make sure all the birthday party supplies that I ordered had arrived. After I'd checked the inventory of the box, I left it open and walked into the living room all while I continued talking to mom. About five minutes later I heard the front door open and my son announce that he was home. By that time I was back in the kitchen so I said to mom that I'd call her right back and hung up the phone. I grabbed the box full of birthday party supplies and took off running to my bedroom and shoved the box in the bottom of my closet.

At the exact moment that I closed the closet door, my son walked in and announced to me again that he was home. I commented something like that I didn't hear him come in and that I was putting away some laundry. I knew that the location of the birthday party supplies would have to suffice at that moment, and I was relieved that he hadn't seen me hiding them. I know my son well enough to know that if he suspected that I was hiding anything in the closet, that when he thought I wasn't looking, he would go back to the closet and have a look around. In fact, I think as soon as he goes to soccer practice, I'm going to move the birthday party favors out of the closet and put them in the laundry room, since that's somewhere he never goes. Plus I'll put the birthday party favors on the top shelf in the cabinet, since he couldn't reach that shelf he if tried. That was a close call. Whew!
