My buddy just turned thirty. He was less then excited to kiss his twenties good-bye. I don’t blame him it is going to be very weird when that birthday rolls around for me. Luckily, I have over half a decade to prepare. Being that we always joke around with each other, I was really pulling out all the stops to make him feel like an old man. My birthday ideas for him consisted of buying Depends diapers, male enhancement pills, grey hair spray and a bedroom door hanger that said, “Keep it Down, I’m Trying to Sleep.” He laughed at the birthday party favors taken them as a joke but I could tell he wasn’t super excited to start this new chapter in his life.
If the phrase, “You are as young as you feel,” counts for anything then he doesn’t have to worry about becoming a boring old man. I have trouble keeping up with him sometimes. I really wanted to get him other birthday supplies like a cane, thick reading glasses, fake teeth and Rogaine. Maybe next year. I’m sure when I roll around to that big birthday he is going to return the favor tenfold with over the hill party decorations and birthday party favors.
