Even though it's a ways away, I just love to think about my best friend's birthday. Every year she and her husband host a big party on May Day, which happens to be her birthday, too. They set up a real May pole in the backyard, complete with cotton streamers. The pole must be 20' high and there are usually 24 people who grab and end of a streamer and the group goes back and forth weaving them until they finish at the bottom of the pole. My friend encourages her guests to wear colorful clothing, too. I often wear a strand of stars in my hair as well as pastel colored clothing to celebrate both her birthday and May Day.
