I had the greatest times thinking up birthday themes when my boys were small. It is so much fun planning and buying the birthday party favors and party decorations. One birthday theme for my son’s fifth, was a pirate theme. That was when Pirates of the Caribbean was big. I bought the necessary pirate party favors and decorations. I also planned a treasure hunt, with made-up maps for each child. I hid those chocolate coins in a small ziplock thorough-out my backyard. Each child had his own map for each coin bag. The kids were so excited as they ran around the yard trying to figure out the map drawings. That was a big hit. The party supplies of hats and treasures really made the party. Another birthday idea was having a super-hero party. With all the decorations of Spiderman, Batman and Superman, it was easy. The kids were asked to come dressed-up as their favorite super-hero. It was a hoot, and the kids had a rowdy good time. Luckily, my kids birthdays are during nice weather, so having the parties outside was a saving grace for me.
