My eleven year old daughter still remembers her fourth birthday party. She was so excited because her grandpa and grandma were going to be visiting from a couple of states away. I have always used birthday themes for all of my kids parties. That year I decided to buy birthday party supplies in the Scooby Doo theme. She was really into Scooby Doo that year, and had several videos that she watched over and over. I bought birthday party supplies like Scooby Doo plates, napkins, cups and decorations. I decorated the living room and dining room with all of these items. I even made a cake in the shape of Scooby Doo for her. She loved everything so much and exclaimed how this was the "best birthday ever" which made all of us laugh because she was only turning four. She still talks about her Scooby Doo birthday being the best ever, because of grandpa and grandma coming to it. The birthday party supplies did make the birthday memorable, because seven years later she still remembers it.
