My husband was a single father for over six years before I met him. The holidays presented a particularly difficult time for him and his young girls. He wanted so badly to make Christmas a special and memorable occasion for his impressionable children. He started a beautiful tradition with the girls that together we carried on every year after we met and got married. 

My husband's Christmas birthday ideas were creative and simple. We celebrated the birth of Christ with what else but a birthday cake? My husband used to order the cakes from a local bakery before I came into the picture. He has so many funny stories about reactions from the different staff members during those years. I guess not too many folks come up with birthday ideas for cake decorations like that!
 
To this day the girls speak fondly of the memories of those special Christmas celebrations. Today, they are happily passing on those birthday ideas for the celebration of Christs birth with their own children. It looks like my husband started a wonderful family holiday tradition!
