Being a ballroom dancer, my dance partner and I often have the opportunity to teach dance at different kinds of fun-filled events. These group dance lessons can be exciting for us, especially since we take birthday themes into account when we plan out our dance lesson. This time, the theme was High School Musical, based on the hit movies. Everything was consistently High School Musical themed: the birthday party supplies, the party decorations and even the birthday party favors. Since the birthday girl was turning 11, we chose to teach a swing dance lesson because it's known to be fun, especially for kids at that age. Out of all the children's birthday themes we've been to, the High School Musical theme was the most well coordinated. The parents who decorated the event included large posters, the movie playing in the background on a big screen TV, confetti and even a life size stand-up of Zac Efron- which all the tween girls adored. From every party I've been to, I've learned how birthday themes are important in creating an entire atmosphere and setting the overall mood, no matter what age.
