party decorations, birthday themes I'm throwing a birthday party for a friend of mine between Christmas and New Years, and since my house is going to have lots of Christmas decorations up, I decided that I would use birthday party decorations that would look good with the Christmas decorations. I found these little lights online that blink on and off. They come in both red and green, so I ordered a set each of them. They are called the Green Light Cubes (Red Light Cubes) and I got 24 of each. Not only can I use them for party decorations this year, I'll also be able to use them in following years to decorate the house. They could go on the fireplace mantle, outside on the patio or they could decorate the stairs going up to the house, too.

Having a birthday during the holidays can be difficult for people, especially children. My own birthday falls between Christmas and New Years and I remember how it was hard to find kids to come to my birthday party because many kids were out of town. I don't celebrate my birthday anymore, but am really excited about hosting one for my friend. Although the colors of the party decorations will match those I have up for Christmas, I am still searching for a birthday ideas and birthday themes for his party. It's his 50th birthday, a significant one, but since I found some party decorations that I can use year after year, I have plenty of time to build a theme around these light cubes. They look like ice, so maybe I'll build the birthday themes around ice skating or something like that.

I found these cube lights at Shop On Mine located at http://www.shoponmine.com, a website with all kinds of interesting things, especially for party decorations. It's not the easiest thing to find these things as easy in the real world as it is online, so I'm trying to plan ahead enough for the holidays and his birthday to buy what I need from the Internet and avoid all the retail stores. Today I went to the big box store down the street and even though it's a week before Thanksgiving, the place was packed and it took me forever to do my grocery shopping. So this season, as I did last, I'm going to buying almost everything I need for the holidays online and enjoying the savings and the convenience, not to mention the huge variety of party decorations and other things I can get online that I can't find locally.
